“MEN Speak the Unspeakable”
By Michael Elias and Edward Seeker
Here’s a book which claims to reveal what men are really thinking, as Mickey and Ed sit down with a tape recorder and discuss their beliefs on everything from sex to spirituality, wanking, to their relationships with their fathers. It’s an interesting idea – after all, we all want to know what guys talk about when we’re not around – but the conversations have a rambling, random quality which can get surprisingly boring after a while. Maybe it would have helped to have contributions from more than just two people, or maybe it’s the fact that listening to people you don’t know, discussing family members and friends you’ll never meet isn’t actually that interesting. You may well get a few insights into the male mind from “MEN Speak the Unspeakable”, but how much you’ll like it depends on how much you like feeling other people’s pain. Sadly, this really isn’t as important or controversial a book as it would like to be.
